World Information: Future sci fi world where capitalism has won and companies own planets and their own militaries and wage war with each other. Plenty of hi-tech weapons, spaceships, and alien lifeforms.

Personal History: https://borderlands.fandom.com/wiki/Handsome_Jack#Background

Personality: Jack on the surface is a typical egomaniac, with little empathy for others and an obsession with himself. It goes deeper than just vanity though. His image is extremely important to him and he’s well aware it is his charisma and ability to inspire both fear and awe in others that keeps him CEO of his company.

What put him on his throne, however, was his brilliant mind. Jack’s ability to mentally outpace his older competition gave him a definite upper hand in climbing the ranks so quickly. He’s a decent coder, but its really his boundless ideas for tech and savviness for branding and merchandising that made Hyperion top the charts. He’s excellent at verbal manipulation as well, which would seem unlikely given his often childish behavior, but he knows exactly how to target a verbal jab that hits your weak spot.

Speaking of childish, its clear that this is not an emotionally mature man. Jack is extremely impatient, prone to tantrums, and delights in simple cruelty. His humor is often very low brow and he buys ridiculous things simply just to have them, i.e. the infamous diamond unicorn, which he named ‘Buttstallion.’ He also easily becomes attached to people if they show him any sort of genuine affection towards him. Unfortunately, his attachment usually manifests in an obsession to protect and a fear of abandonment.

Jack is also sadly deluded. He very much believes he is the hero of his story and that he deserves everything he’s taken because of his awful childhood. Its clear he finds it easier to mask his more uncomfortable emotions with anger and self-righteous indignation rather than deal with them. He’s never gotten over his abuse and he intends to dole it right back out to everyone else as a form of revenge. Despite his actions, he really has convinced himself that what he does is right and even that he is a good father to his daughter- despite keeping her locked up and using her to charge the vault key. Anyone challenging this view ends up dead.

Key themes: Scars and Gold. Physical scars to be concealed, mental scars that have twisted a brilliant mind- they both live behind a plastic mask. Money can’t buy you love or happiness, but it can buy you a whole lot of other shit. Bathe everything in gold – who cares if its tacky? – its shiny and it tells other people you’re important! Everyone respects the guy with the money. It makes the world go round after all.

Main Motivation: Jack’s main goal in life is to be on top and stay there so he’ll never be at another person’s mercy again. Vulnerability in any way is his greatest fear.

Skills: Computers, coding, weapon design, robotics, hand-to-hand combat, gun combat, emotional manipulation, merchandising.

Item: A framed picture of his daughter, Angel.

Notes: Jack is an AI, so he will need some sort of robot body. I’m thinking a hard light hologram projected around a frame? So he can still look like this: https://i.gifer.com/3bWl.gif but be able to touch stuff.
